FREMANTLE star Michael Walters has sensationally been hit with a one-match suspension at the Match Review for his headbutt on Melbourne youngster Jay Lockhart.

However, the Dockers are almost certain to challenge his suspension at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night, with the evidence of umpire Curtis Deboy believed to be crucial in the Match Review’s verdict.

Meanwhile, Port Adelaide duo Dougal Howard and Karl Amon have also been banned for one game each for respective incidents during a fiery encounter with Geelong.

Walters was reported by the field umpire during Saturday's clash, having appeared to make contact with Lockhart's head in an off-the-ball incident in the third term.

A free kick was paid, before it was overturned after Nathan Jones shoved Walters.

Despite seemingly minimal contact, the incident was judged as intentional conduct with low impact to the head, meaning Walters will miss Fremantle's clash with Carlton on Sunday.

Walters had been enjoying a career-best season, averaging 21.1 disposals while kicking 28 goals from 13 games playing a mix between forward and through the midfield.

THE RUN HOME Who will make finals?

Meanwhile, Howard and Amon look set to miss Port Adelaide's clash with the Bulldogs.

Howard was offered a one-match ban for striking Geelong's Harry Taylor, with his off-the-ball punch to the midriff judged as medium impact by Michael Christian.

Amon's bump on Gary Rohan, which concussed the Cats forward, was judged as a careless action with medium impact – also equating to a potential one-game suspension.

Elsewhere, Western Bulldogs ruckman Tim English has been offered a $2000 striking fine for a late spoil attempt that collected Collingwood's Jack Crisp to the side of the head.

West Coast's Jeremy McGovern had already been offered a one-match suspension for rough conduct after pushing Essendon's Matt Guelfi into a fence on Thursday night.

However, the Eagles have confirmed they will challenge the ban at the AFL Tribunal.
