THE REMARKABLE revival of Liam Jones' career has continued, with the defender signing a three-year contract extension to ensure his future at Ikon Park until 2022.

On the scrap heap at the Blues as little as two years ago, a move into the backline has seen Jones become one of the League's most improved intercept defenders.

He has been an ever-present figure in Carlton's side over the last 18 months, playing 55 games for the club since a move from the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2014.

"It’s great to re-sign, I love playing my football here and I feel like this group can achieve something special," Jones said on Thursday.

"My time here at Carlton has been quite the journey, going from a forward to a defender: the transition certainly had its challenges, but I’ve loved every minute of the journey.

"It’s been great to hone my defensive craft with (assistant coach) Dale Amos who has backed me since day one and encouraged me to do it my way.

"The club has shown great belief in me since I walked through the doors and I’m looking forward to working hard every day to help this group achieve success over the next three seasons." - Liam Jones

Jones' extension follows a one-year deal for veteran ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, signed on Wednesday, which will see him remain at the club for season 2020.
