RICHMOND has axed young midfielder Jack Graham for its huge clash with Greater Western Sydney at the MCG on Sunday.

The Giants have also sprung a selection shock, leaving out forward Jeremy Finlayson for the crucial encounter that features fifth and sixth on the ladder.

Graham is the only change to the Tigers' team that smashed Gold Coast by 92 points last week, making way for the return of gun forward Jack Riewoldt in his first game in 10 weeks.

Riewoldt hasn't played since suffering a PCL injury to his knee in the Anzac Day Eve game against Melbourne.

Forward Josh Caddy was overlooked after he missed the victory over the Suns with a leg injury.

Finlayson has been dropped by the Giants despite kicking 28 goals for the season.

First-year midfielder Jackson Hately has also been omitted while star onballer Josh Kelly (calf) and forward Zac Langdon (ankle) are out with injury.

All Australian Lachie Whitfield returns from a broken collarbone, along with Daniel Lloyd, Matt Buntine and debutant Ian Hill.

Port Adelaide's running machine Xavier Duursma is a surprising axing for the Power's crucial encounter with Brisbane at Adelaide Oval.

The 19-year-old – the 18th overall pick in last year's NAB AFL Draft – has been dropped for the first time this season despite picking up 22 disposals in the Power's Showdown smashing of Adelaide.

Big-bodied midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper also makes way to accommodate the return of former skipper Travis Boak, who was a late scratching from the Showdown with a back injury.

Ex-Fremantle Dockers utility Cam Sutcliffe makes his Power debut after the 27-year-old was thrown a lifeline in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft in May.

Sutcliffe played a number of different roles in 104 games for the Dockers and could get a run-with job on Lions star Lachie Neale, who had 43 touches the last time the two sides met in round three at the Gabba.

The Lions have recalled Oscan McInerney and Josh Walker, who come into the side for key forward Eric Hipwood (knee) and veteran Luke Hodge, who is being managed.

Melbourne forward Sam Weideman will miss his side's clash with the Western Bulldogs at the Marvel Stadium with a calf injury.

He joins Marty Hore (collarbone) and fellow key forward Tom McDonald (knee) on the sidelines.

But the Demons are boosted with the returns of ruckman Max Gawn, defender Jake Lever and vice-captain Neville Jetta.

The Bulldogs go in unchanged, which means there is no room for veteran defender Dale Morris.

Meanwhile, Geelong has lost defender Jake Kolodjashnij for Saturday night's clash against St Kilda.

Jack Henry, who was originally 'managed' for the clash, returns to the side.
