THE AFL's score review 'hub' will be based at Marvel Stadium for this year's finals series, but its long-term location remains unclear.

The League has been scouting where it can house the off-site review centre, which it also hopes will be an overarching focal point for a number of different areas.

Getting the right levels of connectivity was a key issue for the AFL as it searched for the right location for the hub.

AFL.com.au has confirmed it has settled on a room at Marvel Stadium for the finals series, where it will officially launch as the see-all centre for score review incidents for all games.

Currently score review decisions are made at the various venues, but the centralised hub will take over that responsibility to ensure a consistent approach is in place.

The AFL will test the centre and its technology for the round 23 set of matches, but will not assess score reviews for games until the first week of the finals.

The review centre could move for next year, however, when the AFL hopes it will also be able to house Match Review Officers, and be used for umpire coaching, medical process and game integrity purposes.

The League's football operations manager Steve Hocking said last month the current score review system had "hurt the game" at stages this season with some confusing decisions.

The AFL has had 15 score reviewers this season, but the review centre will see the League cut that back to four or five of its best operators.
