Ryan Lester will play on into a 10th season at Brisbane after signing a new one-year deal

LIST spots at Brisbane are getting tighter with veteran Ryan Lester and young defender Mitch Hinge both signing one-year contract extensions.

Lester's deal will ensure he lines up for a 10th season at the Lions after being drafted in 2010.

The 27-year-old utility played nine of his 126 career games last season, swinging between defence and occasionally into the midfield.

He was part of the club's eight-man leadership group.

"Ryan is a person that is well respected by everyone at our football club due to his manner and drive to improve himself as a player," Brisbane football manager David Noble said.

"He provides great input into the direction and decision-making of the club from a leader's perspective."

For Hinge, the contract means he will be upgraded to the senior list after three years on the rookie list.

The 21-year-old made his long-awaited debut last season, playing two games in rounds nine and 10.

It continues a busy off-season for the Lions, who also have to upgrade towering ruckman Oscar McInerney to the senior list after three years as a rookie.

Following the acquisitions of free agents Grant Birchall and Cam Ellis-Yolman, along with trading in former Gold Coast utility Callum Ah Chee, Brisbane currently has just one spot open on its senior list.

It will need to either delist more players or shuffle some back to the rookie list before November's NAB AFL Draft to free up at least two more positions.
