ADELAIDE insists it didn't make the call to exclude Patrick Dangerfield from its official 2016 calendar and categorically denies his omission is a sign he'll depart the club.

Sam Jacobs, Eddie Betts, Rory Sloane and skipper Taylor Walker feature on the cover of the calendar but restricted free agent Dangerfield – who is widely speculated to be considering a move to Geelong in October – is missing.

Dangerfield is Adelaide's best-known player but a Crows spokesman told AFL.com.au the club had no say over who featured in the calendar.

The AFL and Elite Sports Properties hold the licence for and produce the calendar, so it's largely their decision as to which players are included.

The Crows are consulted, but ultimately Dangerfield's absence is a result of logic.

All parties are keen to avoid the type of embarrassment seen when Ryan Griffen and Adam Cooney made the cover of the Western Bulldogs' 2015 calendar, only to join Greater Western Sydney and Essendon during the 2014 AFL Trade Period.
