Adelaide

State league affiliate: Adelaide (SANFL)
This weekend: Sturt v Adelaide - Sunday June 7, 2.10pm, Peter Motley Oval

Brad Crouch relished his first game in three months as the midfielder racked up 33 disposals in his return from injury.

Crouch, who had surgery to repair a break in his foot in March, was dominant through the midfield with nine clearances and five tackles complementing his 33 touches.

Richard Douglas, who was also making his return from a foot injury, had 23 touches, six clearances and eight inside 50s.

However the pair were shaded by Jarryd Lyons, who notched 31 disposals, six tackles, 12 clearances, seven inside 50s and two goals.

Veteran James Podsiadly nailed five goals, while helping himself to 21 disposals as well as adding 14 marks in a sensational display up forward.

Brisbane

State league affiliate: Brisbane Lions (NEAFL)
This weekend: UWS Giants v Brisbane Lions - Sunday June 7, 9.30am, Spotless Stadium

There was not much to write home about for the Brisbane Lions who were annihilated by the Giants by 192 points.

The Lions, who have been decimated by injuries, had just six AFL-listed players to choose from and struggled mightily.

Josh Clayton (15 possessions) and Mitch Golby (13) were the Lions to show some resistance.

Carlton

State league affiliate: Northern Blues (VFL)
This weekend: Coburg v Northern Blues - Monday June 8, 2pm, Piranha Park

Backman Chris Yarran, who was axed from the Blues' round 10 squad for arriving late to team meetings last week, responded well with 23 disposals and a goal playing in his customary half-back role. 

Midfielder David Ellard was also named among the Blues' best in their two-point loss, finishing with 23 touches, 10 tackles and three goals, including seven tackles and five clearances in the first half.

In attack, defender-turned-forward Matthew Watson added two goals.

Collingwood

State league affiliate: Collingwood (VFL)
This weekend: Casey Scorpions v Collingwood - Saturday June 6, 2pm, Casey Fields

In his second straight VFL appearance, versatile tall Ben Reid was prolific at centre half-back in the first half of the Magpies' four-point loss.

Father-son draftee Darcy Moore also performed well in his return from a left hamstring injury, while midfielder Clinton Young didn’t have much of an impact playing on the wing.

"All three played the intended game time that we had planned out for them," Magpies VFL general manager Luke Gatti told AFL.com.au on Saturday night.

"Reid and Moore had pretty big days in defence for us. (Reid) started the game and finished at three-quarter time and Moore started at quarter-time and finished the game.

"Clinton (didn’t get) as many kicks as he would’ve liked, but (he) provides a fair bit of leadership for us."

Essendon

State league affiliate: Essendon (VFL)
This weekend: Essendon v Geelong - Saturday June 6, 3.25pm, Etihad Stadium

Veteran utility Jason Winderlich got through unscathed in his first competitive game after overcoming a back injury, using his experience at the elite level to direct his younger teammates.

Midfielder Nick O'Brien continued his consistent form, while backman Ariel Steinberg positioned himself well to take several intercept marks in the Bombers' 92-point win.

In attack, utility Shaun Edwards and rookie Irishman Conor McKenna were kept busy with four goals apiece, while tall Jonathan Giles, draftee Jayden Laverde and speedster Lauchlan Dalgleish kicked two goals each.

Fremantle

State league affiliate: Peel Thunder (WAFL)
This weekend: Peel Thunder v West Perth - Saturday June 6, 2.15pm, Bendigo Bank Stadium

Draftee Connor Blakely led the way for the Docker-listed players, accumulating 34 touches (11 kicks, 23 handballs) in Peel's four-point loss.

Rookie Jacob Ballard was also prominent with 32 touches (17 kicks, 15 handballs) and six inside 50s.

Utility Matt de Boer gathered 28 touches (14 kicks, 14 handballs) and a game-high 14 tackles, while onballer Tendai Mzungu held his own with 20 touches and two goals.

Forward Max Duffy booted four goals from his 18 disposals (11 kicks, seven handballs) and five inside 50s.

Geelong

State league affiliate: Geelong (VFL)
This weekend: Essendon v Geelong - Saturday June 6, 3.25pm, Etihad Stadium

Draftee Jake Kolodjashnij was named among his team's best in an otherwise disappointing day for the Cats, who were defeated to the tune of 92 points.

Midfielder George Horlin-Smith led the Cats' tackle count with six.

Former Demon Sam Blease didn’t take part in the match after pulling up sore from a rolled ankle, while first-round draft selection Nakia Cockatoo also didn’t play due to groin tightness.

Gold Coast

State league affiliate: Gold Coast (NEAFL)
This weekend: Gold Coast v Sydney Swans - Saturday June 6, 12pm, Metricon Stadium

Key forward Charlie Dixon, who was sent back to the NEAFL for breaking team protocols, took his medicine and kicked two goals in the Suns' clash against the Sydney Swans reserves. 

Ruckman Zac Smith was also able to hit the scoreboard in his third straight NEAFL match, but high-profile recruit Nick Malceski was the victim of a shutdown job from Swan Jordan Foote.

GWS

State league affiliate: UWS Giants (NEAFL)
This weekend: UWS Giants v Brisbane Lions - Sunday June 7, 9.30am, Spotless Stadium

Ruckman Rory Lobb booted seven goals and experienced Giant Dylan Addison added five as the Giants smashed the Lions by 192 points in the curtain raiser to the AFL clash at Spotless Stadium.

Draftee Jake Barrett racked up 42 disposals and nine tackles, Paul Ahern collected 34 touches and Jack Steele and Rhys Palmer each had 28 in the Giants' monster win.

Forwards Jarrod Pickett (four goals) and Jed Lamb (three) also did plenty of damage on the scoreboard, as the Giants had 14 individual goalkickers.

Hawthorn

State league affiliate: Box Hill Hawks (VFL)
This weekend: Box Hill Hawks v Port Melbourne - Saturday June 6, 12.12pm, Box Hill City Oval

Ruckman Ben McEvoy (hamstring) and defender Matt Spangher (calf) made successful returns from injuries in Box Hill's 55-point victory. 

Versatile midfielder Jonathan O'Rourke was the most prominent Hawk with 21 possessions and three goals, while onballer Jonathan Simpkin contributed with 22 disposals.

Melbourne

State league affiliate: Casey Scorpions (VFL)
This weekend: Casey Scorpions v Collingwood - Saturday June 6, 2pm, Casey Fields

After two matches sidelined with a knee injury, Dom Tyson returned in style with 33 possessions to lead Casey to a thrilling four-point lead in the VFL. 

Rohan Bail also played a key role, kicking two goals, including a late snap across his body that put the Scorpions ahead by nine points. 

Draftee Alex Neal-Bullen, who is starting to push towards a senior debut, was a major ball-winner with 35 touches.

Ruckman Mark Jamar played in the VFL, with young tall Max Gawn promoted for Monday's Queen's Birthday clash at the MCG.  

North Melbourne

State league affiliates: Werribee, North Ballarat (VFL)
This weekend: Werribee v Richmond - Saturday June 6, 2pm, Avalon Airport Oval; North Ballarat v Sandringham - Saturday June 6, 1pm, Eureka Stadium

Omitted defender Luke McDonald put in a great performance, accumulating 25 disposals and 12 marks in Werribee's 96-point win.

Big man Majak Daw landed awkwardly in a marking contest and didn’t take any further part in the game after half-time as a precautionary measure.

Fellow tall Daniel Currie continued his recent good form with 11 touches, 47 hit-outs and two goals, while omitted forward Kayne Turner tried hard for 16 touches and two goals.

For North Ballarat, midfielder Shaun Atley responded well to his demotion with 20 touches and six clearances playing between wing and midfield roles in his side's 27-point loss. 

Backman Aaron Mullett impressed with his tackling pressure, finishing with a team-high 26 touches as he continues to build strength in his left shoulder.

Port Adelaide

State league affiliate: Port Adelaide (SANFL)
This weekend: Central District v Port Adelaide - Saturday June 6, 2.10pm, Playford Alive Oval

Midfielder Brendon Ah Chee was the Magpies' major ball winner with 30 disposals (13 kicks, 17 handballs), nine inside 50s and seven clearances in his side's eight-point win.

Ball magnet Kane Mitchell featured heavily with 29 possessions (20 kicks, nine handballs) and 10 marks. 

Fellow midfielders Sam Colquhoun (25 touches, two goals) and Andrew Moore (25 touches, one goal) also provided plenty of run.

Rookie Nathan Krakouer responded to his demotion with 24 touches (20 kicks, four handballs), nine marks and seven rebound 50s.

Richmond

State league affiliate: Richmond (VFL)
This weekend: Werribee v Richmond - Saturday June 6, 2pm, Avalon Airport Oval

Young forward Liam McBean flew back from Perth after he was an emergency for Friday night's clash with Fremantle, but he struggled to have an impact in the Tigers heavy VFL loss.

The Tigers were beaten by 94 points, with goalsneak Sam Lloyd kicking three of their five goals.    

Veteran Chris Newman came on in the second quarter and was managed, getting through unscathed after three matches sidelined with a groin injury.

AFL-listed Tigers Nathan Gordon and Matt McDonough had 21 possessions each, while Ben Lennon showed glimpses of his class, snapping a nice goal out of a stoppage.

St Kilda

State league affiliate: Sandringham (VFL)
This weekend: North Ballarat v Sandringham - Saturday June 6, 1pm, Eureka Stadium

Saints Tim Membrey and Ahmed Saad booted two goals apiece as Sandringham defeated North Ballarat by 27 points on Saturday.

Darren Minchington was named as the Zebras' best player, while defenders Sam Gilbert and Tom Lee steadied the ship in defence.

Sydney Swans

State league affiliate: Sydney Swans (NEAFL)
This weekend: Gold Coast v Sydney Swans - Saturday June 6, 12pm, Metricon Stadium

Midfielder Craig Bird (39 possessions) continued a strong month in the NEAFL to stake claims for a senior recall next week. 

The Swans won by 30 points, with George Hewett (34 possessions) the other standout at Metricon Stadium.

Academy recruit Jordan Foote (11 tackles) was important, shutting down former Swan Nick Malceski in a run-with role before moving into the midfield.  

First-year Swan James Rose, who is yet to debut, kicked three goals and had 25 possessions in an impressive performance.

Coach Marty Mattner said the South Australian has shown strong progress in the past month and was exciting against the Suns.

West Coast

State league affiliate: East Perth (WAFL)
This weekend: Swan Districts v East Perth - Saturday June 6, 1.40pm, East Blue Oval

Forward Jack Darling staked his claim for an AFL return with five goals, 10 possessions (eight kicks, two handballs) and seven marks in his comeback from a right foot stress fracture. 

Rookie-listed midfielder Murray Newman made an encouraging comeback from a broken thumb, finishing with 15 touches (11 kicks, four handballs) and a goal in East Perth's 17-point victory. 

Backman Xavier Ellis impressed across half-back with 27 disposals (21 kicks, six handballs) as he builds match fitness from a hamstring injury he sustained in the NAB Challenge.

Rookie Kane Lucas (24 touches) was also named among the Royals' best, while omitted Eagle Brant Colledge finished with 23 touches.

Western Bulldogs

State league affiliate: Footscray (VFL)
This weekend: Footscray v Williamstown - Sunday June 7, 2pm, Whitten Oval

Despite Footscray suffering a disappointing 38-point loss to Williamstown, a number of young Dogs provided bright spots through the game.

Recruit Sam Darley racked up 38 disposals in a dominant display through the midfield, while Lachie Hunter helped himself to 34.

Defender Michael Talia, who was dropped after the Bulldogs' round eight loss to Melbourne, had 21 touches.

Ayce Cordy and Jack Redpath each kicked a goal as the Bulldogs kicked just five for the afternoon in blustery conditions.
