A total of 33 games will be played across the next 20 consecutive days, as a hectic AFL fixture brought upon by the COVID-19 shutdown period reaches an entertaining climax.

It begins with the Western Bulldogs facing reigning premiers Richmond on Wednesday night, with a series of blockbusters scattered throughout the 20-day footy bonanza.

Premiership contenders West Coast and Geelong will meet at Optus Stadium on Saturday night, one of four Cats matches within the span of 14 days, with weeknight footy also on the AFL's agenda.

Fellow flag fancies Brisbane and Richmond will play at Metricon Stadium on a Tuesday night, while Geelong and North Melbourne will then do battle in the unusual 5.40pm AEST time slot the next Wednesday.

The 'Sydney Derby' will take place in Perth, of all places, on a Thursday night in round 12, while a Saturday twilight clash between Melbourne and Collingwood will also whet the appetite of footy fans.

Six clubs will also have byes throughout the 20-day period, as the AFL attempts to squeeze four rounds of footy into less than three weeks to ensure the season can be concluded in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
