WESTERN Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has labelled trade rumours surrounding Lachie Hunter a "made-up story".

SLIDING DOORS What's Damian Barrett saying about your club?

Journalist Caroline Wilson raised the possibility of Brisbane having interest in the gun midfielder on the Nine Network on Wednesday night, but Beveridge says Hunter will remain at the club next season.

"It's a made-up story, I don't know where it's come from," Beveridge said on Friday.

"It's either come from his management or someone said earlier it was on Footy Classified, I'm sure Lachie is not shopping himself around

"I think (playing for another club is) the furthest thing from Lachie's mind and definitely our mind. He's a Bulldogs player and he'll be with us next year, I've got no doubt.

"He's happy, content and has no desire to leave our footy club."

Beveridge confirmed Hunter, who is contracted until the end of 2024, will line up against Adelaide after missing the round 11 clash against the Lions with a minor calf issue.

Hunter has played just three games for the club this season, missing four matches earlier in the year after a drink-driving incident and then being unavailable for selection for personal reasons.

Norm Smith medallist Jason Johannisen will not be available to face the Crows after an ankle injury kept him out of training on Friday morning.

"Yeah, he'll miss. We ruled him out yesterday," Beveridge said of Johannisen.

"It's not major, we think he'll be in line to possibly play the game following this weekend."

Forward Laitham Vandermeer will be rested with some muscle soreness, with Ben Cavarra a chance to replace him after kicking three goals in a scratch match last weekend.

The Bulldogs will also have to find a replacement for key defender Zaine Cordy, who has been sidelined with a chest injury.
