BRISBANE ball-magnet Lachie Neale needs just five votes from the remaining two games to claim the 2020 AFL Coaches' Association's AFL Champion Player Award.

After second-placed Power veteran Travis Boak polled a perfect 10 in the opening game of round 16 to close the gap, Neale maintained his 16-vote buffer after bagging a 10 of his own in the final game of the round.
