Collingwood and West Coast have the next most representatives behind Geelong and Port Adelaide with four players each in the squad, while Brisbane, Fremantle, Melbourne, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs each have three players included.

A total of 15 sides have been represented in the 40-man squad, with Adelaide, Gold Coast and North Melbourne the only teams not to have a single player named.

Gawn and Nic Naitanui are vying for the ruck position, with dual All-Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy and Kangaroos veteran Todd Goldstein both controversially left out of the squad.

Melbourne defender Steven May, Essendon speedster Adam Saad, Sydney midfielder Luke Parker and Gold Coast backman Sam Collins are also notable absentees from the 40-man group.
