It continues a wretched 2019 for the gifted utility, who played his first senior game prior to Gold Coast's bye, after overcoming a quad injury that cruelled the early part of his year.

General manager of football operations Jon Haines said it was a huge disappointment for both Ah Chee and the club.

"Cal is a highly regarded member of our playing group and he will receive all the necessary support throughout the upcoming rehabilitation process," Haines said.

"Cal is a key part of our long-term plans and we will ensure that his recovery sets him up for a strong pre-season campaign."

Ah Chee was the eighth pick in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft and has played 45 games for the Suns.

He is out of contract at season's end.
