Proud Minang and Inggarda man, and former Richmond and Collingwood AFL player Andrew Krakouer, will join Warumungu/Walman Yawuru woman and rising media star Megan Waters to headline Yokayi Footy for its third season.

Premiering Tuesday March 15 at 9pm (AEDT), Yokayi Footy will cover everything Australians love about AFL through bold yarns, powerful monologues, compelling community stories and exclusive interviews with prominent Indigenous AFL players.

Returning for another season as regular panelists are former triple premiership Brisbane Lions and Australian Indigenous Team of the Century player Darryl White and former AFL champion Gilbert McAdam.

New host Andrew Krakouer said it was an honour to contribute to the show as co-host.

Yokayi Footy continues to be an important platform to amplify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices on a national scale and provide a safe space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to discuss important topics that matter both on and off the field

- AFL head of production Monica Forlano

"Tony, Megan and Bianca have done an amazing job paving the way for the third season of Yokayi Footy. I'm proud and really looking forward to be taking on co-hosting responsibilities this year and making my mark on the upcoming season," Krakouer said.

"I've been involved in football for a long time, and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to share my knowledge of the game, my culture, and the contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have made and continue to make in the AFL to a national audience."

For the first time, Yokayi Footy will expand to a one-hour show and introduce a new segment featuring state leagues SANFL, WAFL and VFL as well as cover all the latest news from AFL, AFLW and community football programs throughout the season.

AFL Head of Production, Monica Forlano said: "We're thrilled to launch a new season of Yokayi Footy alongside NITV which is set to be bigger and better than ever before, with an expanded program, fresh line up and new segments for fans to enjoy."

"Yokayi Footy continues to be an important platform to amplify Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices on a national scale and provide a safe space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to discuss important topics that matter both on and off the field."

The name Yokayi, a Noongar phrase meaning 'a shout of victory', highlights the importance of culture and community, both of which are core aspects of the program.

Yokayi Footy will continue to film between its Melbourne studio and on country, with segments exploring participation around Australia and the untold stories from communities.

NITV's Head of Sport, Mark Ella, said: "It's a pleasure to welcome long-time guest, and now host, Andy to our Yokayi Footy family as he, Megan and the rest of the team return for what will be another exciting year.

"We're looking forward to continuing our partnership with the AFL in 2022. The positive impacts we can make when organisations such as ours come together shows just how important diversity in sport is."

Yokayi Footy will return to its traditional timeslot of Wednesdays at 8:30pm (AEDT)  from March 23 and will be broadcast on NITV, SBS On Demand, AFL.com.au and the AFL Official Live App.
