BOX HILL Hawks star Ben Cavarra produced the biggest individual milestone in Smithy’s VFL Round 6, booting his 150th goal in the competition late in his team’s narrow loss to Casey Demons at Box Hill City Oval on Sunday.

Cavarra, who joined the Hawks this season after being delisted by the Western Bulldogs, has now kicked 150 goals in 116 VFL matches for Box Hill, Footscray, Williamstown and Frankston.

It is a rare achievement these days - so rare, in fact, that Sandringham's Sam Dunell is the only other active player to have passed that mark with 220 majors in 161 matches.

His teammate Kyle Hartigan finally hit 50 VFL matches nine years after completing a 48-match stint for Werribee from 2010-12 – ironically he is still yet to kick a goal at the level, while a player who has gone the other way – Ollie Hanrahan – reached the same milestone for the Tigers, as did Collingwood’s Callan Wellings (21 goals).

Sydney’s Harry Morrison booted his 50th NEAFL/VFL goal in the Swans’ loss to Brisbane Lions, his 41st NEAFL/VFL match, while Carlton’s Ben Crocker joined suspended Southport star Jacob Townsend at the top of the Frosty Miller Medal leaderboard.

There were also plenty of club records and milestones in Round 6, including the amazing occurrence between Gold Coast and Werribee.

The Suns and the Tigers met twice in 2010 for a draw, followed by a one-point win to the Suns, meaning Sunday’s two-point result continues an unusual coincidence.
