AN ANKLE injury to star Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs is "relatively minor" and the Crows are hopeful he will be fit to face the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.

Crows captain Taylor Walker is also in the mix for the Adelaide Oval encounter after he sat out Sunday's 82-point demolition of Essendon.

But the huge win was overshadowed by the concern for Jacobs, who was forced from the ground in the second quarter after rolling his left ankle.

"It's obviously only early still … but it was relatively minor," Crows general manager of high performance Brett Burton told afc.com.au on Monday.

"We'll assess him during the week and, hopefully, he'll be a chance to play this weekend."

Burton said Walker was making good progress from his ankle injury.

"Tex trained well over the weekend," Burton said.

"We'll ramp up his (training) loads during the week and, hopefully, he'll be a chance to play too."

If Jacobs is sidelined, the Crows are likely to promote uncapped ruckman Reilly O'Brien, who has been an emergency for the past couple weeks.

Crows defender Rory Laird said O'Brien deserved his opportunity.

"He hasn't put a foot wrong since he's come here," Laird said.

"He's playing consistent footy in the SANFL and played a bit of NAB Cup last year.

"He's a really good player, great ruck work and follows the ball really well around the park with his ground ball and second efforts.

"I'd definitely say he's ready for an AFL shot."

The Crows will be heavy favourites to easily account for the Lions and it's a chance to boost their percentage and keep the pressure on the top four.

"You've just got to keep winning and every game is super important," Laird said.

"It's a tight competition in the top five and top eight in general.

"We've just got to win every game and every game is as important as the next.

"That's the theme we'll take into Brisbane this week."
