FRANKSTON broke an 11-match losing streak dating back 14 years with its 56-point Smithy’s VFL thrashing of Geelong at Skybus Stadium last Saturday.

The Dolphins hadn’t beaten the Cats since 2008, and not on their home ground since 2005, but led by as much as 89 points at three quarter-time before taking their foot off the pedal.

They still recorded their highest ever score against Geelong, but missed out on the chance to hold their opponents to their lowest tally as well as recording their biggest win head-to-head.

Sydney also broke records in its 59-point win over Essendon at Windy Hill, kicking their highest score against the Bombers, holding them to their lowest score on their home ground and recording the biggest margin between the teams.

Gold Coast’s Chris Burgess extended his lead in the Frosty Miller Medal to six goals with Fergus Greene injured and Ben Crocker having a bye, while Joel Amartey and Ben Cavarra each only managed singles.

Coburg had a win for Ryan Exon’s 100th VFL game, Werribee’s Tom Gribble finally kicked his 50th goal and there were also big milestones for Casey Demons, Essendon and Northern Bullants, although the latter was not a happy one.

A Punt Rd Tiger, meanwhile, became the 200th player to kick his first VFL goal this season.
