COLLINGWOOD skipper Scott Pendlebury has plans in place if his wife Alex goes into labour during the Magpies' clash against Greater Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

The couple are expecting their first child this weekend and the 29-year-old midfielder wants to be at the birth.

However, he remains hopeful he will be lucky enough to both play and be present when the baby is born.

Pendlebury told the Jock and Journo podcast he had already decided what to do in every situation that might arise.

"I want to play but if Alex rang me and she said 'we're on here' and I'm in Sydney, I would fly back," Pendlebury said.

"So if I have to miss the game, I will miss the game. Ideally, it works out and Alex gives birth either later this week or early next week."

The Collingwood star said he wanted to be informed as soon as the call came from his wife with football operations manager Marcus Wagner responsible for passing on the news if the game was in progress.

The Magpies have never lost to Greater Western Sydney but will go into the game has underdogs, particularly with the other key member of their star-studded midfield Adam Treloar in some doubt due to groin soreness.
