All the teams for Round 14 of the Smithy’s VFL.

Collingwood and Sydney have each listed a host of huge names for Tom Wilson’s 150th VFL match at AIA Centre on Saturday morning.

Swans full back Tom McCartin will play only his second match since being concussed in the AFL in Round 4, with the club deciding he needs to regain some match fitness with a VFL debut, while Robbie Fox has also been selected but is a likely AFL substitute candidate.

Mid-season draftee Jack Buller boosts the forward line after getting a taste of the top level and Nick Shipley returns from a serious hamstring injury, with Jacob Konstanty rested, Cooper Vickery injured and the four Swans Academy boys coming out of the team.

The Magpies have named Jack Ginnivan, Beau McCreery and Billy Frampton, with the latter two to debut in the VFL should they play, while Reef McInnes was dropped and mature-age draftee Joe Richards returns from a 10-week hamstring injury.

Hawthorn mid-season draftee Brandon Ryan has served his pre-draft suspension from the Northern Bullants and will play his first game in brown and gold for Box Hill Hawks against ladder leader Gold Coast at Heritage Bank Stadium on Sunday, with fellow key forward Jaylon Thorpe back from injury and Bailey Macdonald returning from the AFL, but Emerson Jeka and Jack O’Sullivan are injured.

The Suns have made up to eight changes, with Rory Atkins, Tom Berry, Alex Davies and Alex Sexton dropped from the AFL, while Jeremy Sharp and Lloyd Johnston return after sitting out last week and Suns Academy pair Will Graham and Jake Rogers will debut.

Rogers is part of the AFL Academy and was best afield for Australia U18 in their clash against Carlton’s VFL side at Marvel Stadium last month.

Sam Flanders, Brandon Ellis and Hewago Oea were promoted after destroying the Bullants last week, while Charlie Constable and Connor Budarick have been rested.

St Kilda’s cavalry is continuing to return – and it’s a major double hit of confidence for Sandringham ahead of its daunting challenge against competition heavyweights Brisbane Lions at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Saturday.

The Zebras will welcome the return of important Saints midfielder Zak Jones (achilles) and half-back Dan McKenzie (calf) for their first games of the season.

Jones has been close to running out two previous times this year before last-minute setbacks derailed his comeback attempts, while McKenzie will wear yellow, black and blue for the first time since 2019.

Fellow Saints Jack Billings, Tom Highmore and Cooper Sharman have also been named to play in the VFL, while star ball winner Seb Ross has been named but it would surprise if he took his place after being listed as managed by St Kilda on Thursday night.

Port Melbourne will take on Essendon and Nick Bryan without either of its first-choice ruckmen after Paul Hunter was ruled out for a week with a knee injury ahead of Sunday’s clash at ETU Stadium.

With Sam Naismith (groin soreness) to miss another week, it means Tom Hofert and Felix Flockart will have the job of handling one of the best ruckmen in the VFL.

Bryan will have Nick Hind and Massimo D’Ambrosio to feed after they were dropped from the AFL.

In better news for the Borough, Fraser Rosman returns from injury to bolster the defence, while Jesse Cucinotta will step in for the hamstrung Tom Cameron.

Essendon’s mid-season draftee Jaiden Hunter is likely to miss the rest of the season with a back stress injury after kicking four goals in his second game for the club, with Bendigo Pioneers midfielder Michael Kiraly to make his VFL debut in what is set to be cult hero Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti’s 50th VFL game.

Southport regains Matt Shannon from suspension as it welcomes Coburg to Fankhauser Reserve for a match it must win to stay in touch with the top 10.

Braedyn Gillard and Max Kennedy return for the Lions in place of Jhye Baddeley-Kelly and Tom Jepson as they hope to mark Nathan Boucher’s 50th VFL match with an upset victory.

Casey Demons have named a who’s who of AFL-listed talent for their must-win clash against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.

The reigning premiers, who slipped out of the top six with their loss to Collingwood at Casey Fields a fortnight ago, are set to welcome back AFL premiership players Ben Brown, James Harmes, Charlie Spargo and Jake Bowey.

They will be joined by gun defenders Adam Tomlinson and Dan Turner and father-son Taj Woewodin for the trip down the highway.

They are seven of the nine changes Casey made, with 2022 NAB AFL Rookie Draft selection Will Verrall to also make his debut after overcoming stress fractures in his pelvis that cost him the first half of the season.

South Adelaide product Verrall, 19, has been named to start in the ruck, with former Dandenong Stingrays defender Ned Moodie, 19, to also play his first VFL game.

Only three of the nine changes are forced, with Tom Freeman ill, and Cooper Macdonald and Miles Shepherd missing through injury.

Geelong, which is sitting half a game out of the top 10, made six changes of its own, with big man Shannon Neale and midfielders Sam Menegola and Jack Bowes included along with Irishman Oisin Mullin and vice-captain Dan Capiron, while North Ballarat’s Jamie Quick will play his first VFL game.

Rhys Stanley (promoted) and Osca Riccardi (injury) are the two forced omissions from the Cats’ team.

All matches in the 2023 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW seasons will be live streamed free via the AFL website and AFL Live Official App.

Smithy’s VFL broadcast partner, the Seven Network, will show one weekly game live and free on the Seven Network in Victoria and on 7Plus nationally. This week’s game will be Port Melbourne vs Essendon.

Casey Radio 97.7FM will be taking the Port Melbourne vs Essendon game as part of their VFL/VFLW double-header coverage at ETU Stadium.
