The Williamstown Football Club is excited to announce that VFL Senior Coach Justin Plapp has signed a two-year contract extension. Plapp’s reappointment will see him lead the Seagulls until the end of the 2025 Season.

Plapp joined Williamstown as Senior Coach at the end of 2020 after three years as an assistant coach at the Melbourne Demons. After the two years where COVID impacted football, Plapp has developed a strong program in 2023 and is setting the foundations for future success at the Williamstown Football Club.

Williamstown President Clint Rippon is thrilled that Justin has re-committed to the Club.

“Justin is a passionate man with strong values, he builds wonderful relationships and engages all of our Club’s key stakeholders”.

“The playing group has great respect for their coach and his approach to getting the best out of them”.

“Over the past two years Justin has worked extremely hard to rebuild our list and we firmly believe that we are only just starting to see these benefits and outcomes in 2023. With Justin at the helm we are confident that he will continue to lead our proud Club to future success.”

CEO Ashley Baker is delighted to secure Justin’s services for a further two years.

“Justin arrived at Williamstown in one of the most challenging times of our lives, both personally and as a football club. After facing so many unknowns in 2022 it has been rewarding to watch Justin and his team build something special this year and we look forward to watching the group grow further under Justin’s tutelage over the next two years.”

“Justin is a high calibre coach with AFL experience and with that attracts interest at that level. His commitment to Williamstown is a significant indication that we are building a culture here that people want to be immersed in and ultimately strive for success and I am thrilled that Justin is going to be part of that journey for the next two years.”

Plapp said he was pleased to have another two years to work with a developing group of players.

“There’s been a lot of change since I arrived at the football club, but I am really confident in the direction we are heading as a football program and overall as a Club. The bond between the playing

group and the coaching staff has been well-moulded this year and that is a really big thing for me. I look forward to working with the group over the next two years.” Plapp said.

Williamstown looks forward to Justin and his team continuing to build a program that achieves the ultimate success over the coming years.
