Melbourne Football Club play a game there as part of the AFL Premiership season, and the Northern Territory Football League also uses the venue as its premier location for its competition. Patrons sitting in the general admission section can bring collapsible chairs to sit on.

Facilities include a 4500-seat grandstand, corporate and media boxes as well as an air-conditioned members bar. TIO Stadium Darwin has hosted AFL games, NRL games as well as National and International cricket fixtures.
