OSCAR Allen says there's "urgency" at Brisbane, but no panic following Saturday's qualifying final hammering at the hands of Sydney.

If they're to win a third straight premiership, the Lions must now walk the same tightrope as 12 months ago, when Geelong belted them in week one of the finals, after the Swans taught them a lesson at the SCG.

It's the third straight year Brisbane would play all four weeks of the finals series if it's to win the ultimate prize.

Speaking in a quiet dressing-room following the 53-point loss, Allen said the Lions would need to review their poor performance thoroughly.

"We need to pick up our bottom lip, review the game and get better," he told AFL.com.au.

"There's significant disappointment. Even though there's no panic, there's urgency. We've got to get better right away."

Allen said the "get better" would need to come from each line on the ground after the midfield was dismantled and the defenders lost numerous contests behind the ball.

Playing in his first final since 2020, the 27-year-old kicked four goals and was not shirking responsibility for the Lions' vaunted forward line.

"Anyone watching it was clear they were hungrier than us around the ball, tougher in the air ahead of the ball and behind the ball," he said.

"I was representative of the forward line. 

"I had a really poor start to the game. I was slow to react and then when you play the game the way they did, tough in the contest … the ball tends to bounce your way.

"It starts with our midfield, then ahead of the ball and behind the ball we didn't win many contests."
