Owies spent two seasons at West Coast, kicking nine goals in 19 games.

"During ongoing discussions with Matt and his management group, Matt had been open to his time at West Coast coming to an end and moving back to Victoria," Eagles head of list management and recruiting Matt Clarke said.

"On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Matt for his contribution over the past two years.

"We wish him nothing but the best for the future."

Owies was traded to the Eagles from the Blues at the end of 2024, signing a three-year deal.

"I have loved my time here and know the guys are going in the right direction under 'Mini' (coach Andrew McQualter)," Owies said.

"It obviously hasn't worked out like we hoped but that's life and I wish the club nothing but success."

Owies joins Harry Barnett, Tyler Brockman, Clay Hall, Harvey Johnston, Harry Schoenberg and Jack Williams, and the retired Jamie Cripps, in departing West Coast this off-season.
