FORMER Carlton forward Levi Casboult has earned an AFL lifeline with Gold Coast, landing at the Suns during Friday's NAB AFL Rookie Draft, which was dominated by existing AFL players.

Casboult, who played 154 games for Carlton across 10 seasons, was one of 15 players with AFL experience to be picked up as a rookie, including 13 players who were effectively shifted to their 2021 club's supplementary list.

Midfielder Trent Dumont, who earned a second chance with Port Adelaide after being delisted by North Melbourne this year, was the other player to find a new AFL home.

The NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft was over in minutes, with Gold Coast and Adelaide the only clubs choosing to add players to their senior lists.

Rory Thompson was relisted by the Suns, while Adelaide snared athletic wingman Luke Nankervis from the Sandringham Dragons.

There were 26 picks in total across the two drafts, with 10 players joining an AFL list for the first time after being overlooked in the NAB AFL Draft.

North Melbourne used pick No.1 in the Rookie Draft to relist Jared Polec after he had been delisted with two years remaining on a lucrative five-year deal.

Williamstown defender Charlie Dean, who won this year's Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medal as the VFL's best young player, was then plucked by Collingwood with pick No.2.

He joins a long list of players, including Kane Lambert (Richmond), Luke Ryan (Fremantle), Bayley Fritsch (Melbourne) and Nic Newman (Carlton) to earn an AFL chance after winning the award.

WHO DID YOU PICK? Every club’s selection for the 2021 NAB AFL Draft

Ben Davis (Adelaide), Lochie O'Brien (Carlton), Bigoa Nyuon (Richmond) and Lewis Taylor (Sydney) were all relisted by their clubs as rookies with top-10 selections, along with Casboult.

Fremantle waited until late in the Rookie Draft, which was held online, to relist Mitch Crowden and Connor Blakely as promised.

Nankervis, who joined the Crows with pick No.2 in the Pre-Season Draft, was the only new player to join a senior list after the teenager attracted interest ahead of Thursday night's NAB AFL Draft but was ultimately overlooked.

Ned Long (Hawthorn), Karl Worner (Fremantle), Patrick Voss (Essendon) and Cooper Hamilton (GWS Giants) followed Dean in earning their first AFL chances.

Geelong pulled a surprise by snaring Ollie Dempsey from Carey Grammar, while the Western Bulldogs added mature-age midfielder Robbie McComb from their VFL team.

Gold Coast added pre-listed pair Sandy Brock from Peel Thunder and Broadbeach's Bodhi Uwland to its list at the end of the drafts, taking the number of new players added to AFL lists to 12.
