The AFL advises the Match Review of the Thursday to Sunday games of Round Five of the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s Competition has been completed Three charges were laid and there was one other incident that required an explanation.

Charges Laid:
Chloe Molloy, Collingwood, has been charged with Striking Ruby Svarc, Brisbane Lions, during the second quarter of the Round Five match between Brisbane Lions and Collingwood, played at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex on Saturday February 5, 2022.

Eleanor Brown, Western Bulldogs, has been charged with Engaging in Rough Conduct against Katie Brennan, Richmond, during the third quarter of the Round Five match between the Western Bulldogs and Richmond, played at VU Whitten Oval on Sunday February 6, 2022.

Darcy Moloney, Geelong Cats, has accepted a one-match sanction for Rough Conduct (Dangerous Tackle) against Emma Swanson, West Coast Eagles, during the second quarter of the Round Five match between the Geelong Cats and the West Coast Eagles, played at GMHBA Stadium on Friday February 4, 2022.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, Medium Impact and High Contact.

Incident assessed:
The incident between Collingwood’s Jaimee Lambert and Brisbane Lions’ Shannon Campbell from the third quarter of Sunday’s match between the Western Bulldogs and Richmond was assessed. The ball is loose on the wing. Campbell and Lambert approach the ball simultaneously when Lambert makes high contact with Campbell. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Lambert was making a genuine attempt to contest the ball and her actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.
