YOUNG West Coast ruck Sarah Lakay and Hawthorn dynamo Jasmine Fleming have been recognised for impressive round five performances by receiving NAB AFLW Rising Star nominations.

Lakay, 19, was incredible as she starred in her club's three-point loss in the Derby against Fremantle.

The young ruck was instrumental in the middle of what was a coming-of-age game for the 19-year-old.

Against the Dockers on Thursday, she had 42 hitouts which made her just the second player in AFLW history to register 40-plus in a game. Her ability to hit the ball 360 degrees to her fellow midfield group makes her an imposing presence.

Lakay was taken at pick No.40 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft. She caught recruiters eyes at the NAB AFLW Draft Combine in the standing vertical jump (72cm) and the running vertical jump (82cm) and stands at 186cm.

Highly touted Hawthorn recruit Jasmine Fleming has shown why she was selected at pick No.2 in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft with an outstanding performance in round five against Sydney.

Fleming was the Hawks' best as they claimed a four-point victory in a thriller against the Swans, with the influential midfielder having 16 disposals and laying an impressive 10 tackles.

Recruiters were all keen to add the 2021 Oakleigh Chargers premiership player to their ranks as she dominated the 2022 NAB League Girls season with averages of 25.7 disposals, 4.8 tackles and 3.3 marks in just six games.

The 17-year-old Vic Metro representative then went on to make the NAB League Girls Team of the Year and AFLW under 18 All Australian team.

Fleming also showed off her multi-sport talents when she represented Vic Metro in cricket, following in the footsteps of her father and former Australian test cricketer, Damien Fleming.
