IN A devastating blow to Geelong and the wider NAB AFL Women’s competition, youngster Nina Morrison will miss the rest of the season after rupturing the ACL in her right knee on Thursday night at training.
The 18-year-old, the No.1 pick in last year’s NAB AFLW Draft, starred on debut for the Cats against Collingwood at GMBHA Stadium last Saturday night, kicking the winning behind late in the game.
Her 22 disposals and eight tackles saw her nominated for the NAB AFLW Rising Star award on Monday.

"It’s obviously an extremely disappointing situation for Nina and the club," Cats AFLW coach Paul Hood said.
"Nina is a resilient young woman and will tackle her recovery from this injury as she does everything, with a determination and the precision to ensure she is back at 100 per cent for next season.
"The club will offer its support and care to Nina as she begins her rehabilitation."
The 2017 No.1 pick, Isabel Huntington, required a right knee reconstruction after being injured in round two last year. She remains sidelined after spraining the same knee at training prior to Christmas.
Adelaide ruck Rhiannon Metcalfe sustained a torn ACL in her left knee in a practice game in January, while Melbourne defender Shae Sloane tore the ACL in her right knee in round one against Fremantle last weekend.
