  • Q4 30:25

FULL TIMEThe Swans cruised through the last quarter to record a 71 point win over the bottom of the table Saints. Franklin finished with 9.4.

  • Q4 29:00

An anticlimax here for the fans at the SCG with Franklin kicking it out of bounds on the full. He still beat St Kilda on his own by 2 points.

  • Q4 26:30

Luke Parker is the man with the most disposals today. He has 33 with 24 of them handballs.

  • Q4 25:00

All the fans are here waiting to see if Franklin can kick his tenth goal.

  • Q4 23:10

GOAL SAINTSA mini revival for the Saints with Stanley launching one from 55 metres out. That goes through post high!

  • Q4 21:45

GOAL SAINTSYou just have to admire Nick Riewoldt's efforts this afternoon. His team is belted but he did not stop trying. He marks 40 metres out and kicks his third goal.

  • Q4 19:25

GOAL SWANSTippett is paid the free kick for frontal contact in the marking contest. From 30 metres out he makes no mistake.

  • Q4 18:05

BEHIND SAINTSShenton tries one from distance but he drags it out to the right.

  • Q4 15:40

GOAL SAINTSStanley has the footy 45 metres out and he kicks it around his body for goal.

  • Q4 14:40

BEHIND SWANSFranklin with a shot at goal for his tenth but it's touched off the boot and punched through.

  • Q4 12:50

BEHIND SWANSA rushed behind to the Swans.

  • Q4 11:00

GOAL SWANSThe ball gets past the pack and Towers chases it down. He gets a boot to it and that's a goal after the video review proves inconclusive.

  • Q4 09:30

What is Franklin doing on the bench? The fans want him out there.

  • Q4 07:50

GOAL SWANSSydney doing it as easy as they like. Parker marks and nobody is on him. He elects to play on and kick the goal.

  • Q4 07:15

BEHIND SWANSFranklin marks 15 metres out directly in front. Double figures are beckoning but he misses his easiest shot of the day.

  • Q4 05:00

Apart from the Lance Franklin Show the Swans could also find themselves at the top of the table at the end of the round.

  • Q4 03:55

BEHIND SWANSTippett is not the main man today but he could prove to be more than handy as he lines it up for his third. The kick is not a good one and it's only a minor score.

  • Q4 03:00

It would be fair to say that Franklin is the only player to have kicked nine goals in his 200th game. Lets go for double figures and round numbers all around!

  • Q4 01:40

GOAL SWANSFranklin gathers the ball in the pocket. He turns Delaney inside out and makes him look silly. He shakes off Dempster and kicks the goal. That's nine goals to Buddy.

  • Q4 00:01

    The final quarter is underway.

  • Q3 32:05

THREE QUARTER TIMEThe Swans lead by 62 points with Franklin kicking 8 goals. The first team to 100 generally ends up winning the games. The Swans aren't there yet!

  • Q3 30:30

BEHIND SWANSJetta intercepts the Delaney handball and fires for goal, but that post gets in the way of another good goal attempt.

  • Q3 28:00

GOAL SAINTSRampe tries to tap it back towards the goal square but Steven runs onto it and kicks the goal from 3 metres out. Saints have kicked three for the quarter.

  • Q3 25:40

Saints have Fisher as a plus one in defence trying to guard the space out in front of Franklin.

  • Q3 23:30

GOAL SWANSTippett takes the mark but he is paid the free kick down the field. Either way Tippett lines up the shot for goal and it's a good looking kick. That's another six pointer!

  • Q3 21:50

GOAL SWANSThe crowd are getting behind him and he is giving them every reason to. Franklin juggles the mark 50 metres out and he celebrates as soon as it leaves his boot. He has 8.

  • Q3 20:00

GOAL SAINTSThe Saints are making a comeback of sorts. Gwilt splits the defence with a handball to Armitage who runs in and finishes off the job.

  • Q3 18:30

GOAL SAINTSMontagna's long kick goes across the face of goal where Riewoldt marks it running with the flight. He takes two steps out from the boundary and kicks the goal.

  • Q3 16:35

BEHIND SAINTSWeller runs into the open goal 35 metres out but his kick is poor and he misses to the left.

  • Q3 15:15

GOAL SWANSA chain of handballs ends with Franklin who spins around and snaps it around the corner. This man can do no wrong! Seven goals for Franklin!

  • Q3 13:50

All interest left in this match will focus around how many Franklin can kick.

  • Q3 11:40

GOAL SWANSSome poor defensive work by the Saints here. McVeigh marks and shakes off his opponent. He is allowed to run to the edge of the 50 and kick a magnificent goal!

  • Q3 08:20

GOAL SWANSTalk about luxuries! If having Franklin in his prime isn't tough enough for the Saints, a bloke called Tippett chimes in to mark and kick his opener. Swans well in control.

  • Q3 08:20

GOAL SWANSThe Buddy Franklin Show is back on after an intermission. He marks ahead of Delaney and guides it through for his sixth sausage roll.

  • Q3 07:20

Montagna goes off for some treatment but he looks to be ok.

  • Q3 06:10

BEHIND SAINTSGilbert kicks through traffic and it's a very good effort. However, the woodwork gets in the way and that's another poster today.

  • Q3 04:50

Much like the second quarter, it has been a scrappy start to the third.

  • Q3 03:20

BEHIND SAINTSSaunders does well to mark under duress as he flies past the 50. His kick for goal starts right and stays right.

  • Q3 02:00

GOAL SWANSFranklin marks on the lead and goes back to squeeze it through for another goal. He is officially in the lead for the race to win the Coleman Medal.

  • Q3 00:01

    The third quarter is underway.

  • Q2 27:15

HALF TIMESwans hold a comfortable 40 point lead at half-time. With this match relatively safe in their keeping the Swans will be hoping to emerge through the rest of the match unscathed.

  • Q2 25:40

BEHIND SWANSRohan marks in the pocket from Tippett's long raking kick but the kick will be difficult. From the boundary Rohan's kick is good but he misses to the near side.

  • Q2 22:00

BEHIND SWANSFranklin with a snap from an impossible angle and he hits the post. Well, we said it was impossible but with Buddy everything is possible.

  • Q2 19:50

A bit of keepings off action at the moment with both teams employing numbers behind the ball.

  • Q2 17:25

BEHIND SWANSTowers looks to make an impact as a substitute but his shot at goal was not close enough.

  • Q2 16:20

BEHIND SAINTSA rushed behind to the Saints.

  • Q2 14:55

GOAL SAINTSGwilt uses his strength to take a good strong overhead mark. From 25 metres out he makes no mistake.

  • Q2 13:45

BEHIND SAINTSSchneider with a long kick for a target inside the square, but it bounces through for a behind.

  • Q2 11:20

GOAL SWANSSydney have options everywhere and on this occasion Jake Lloyd presents to take the mark. From 40 odd metres out his kick is straight through the middle.

  • Q2 08:50

BEHIND SWANSBird comes back on the ground after yet another medical appointment on the sidelines and he takes a good mark. He sends the kick on its way and he hits the post.

  • Q2 07:30

BEHIND SAINTSSchneider runs into the open goal and this should be a soda. It turns out to be a flat soda because he remarkably hits the post. That was easier to kick the goal than miss there.

  • Q2 05:30

SUBSTITUTION SWANSBig moment for the Swans here with Josh Kennedy subbed out injured. He is replaced by Towers.

  • Q2 03:35

BEHIND SWANSThe Franklin show continues but this time he kicks it across the face of goal.

  • Q2 01:45

GOAL SWANSNormal business has resumed with Franklin marking just inside the 50. His kick from outside 50 is a floating helicopter kick and it's effective.

  • Q2 00:01

    The second quarter is underway.

  • Q1 30:25

QUARTER TIMEThe Swans came out bursting out of the blocks and you can just about put this result in the book. Swans by 32 points with Franklin kicking three goals.

  • Q1 28:40

Bird limps off the field for some treatment to an ankle but he looks to be ok.

  • Q1 26:30

Kieran Jack is the first player to double figure disposals. He has 11.

  • Q1 25:30

The Swans mean business today as we get close to the business end of the season. Coach Longmire is frustrated despite the sizeable lead his team has already built.

  • Q1 24:15

BEHIND SWANSFranklin marks again. This time his kick from 55 metres out is a lamb shank and it floats across for a behind.

  • Q1 22:45

GOAL SWANSThere is one man who the focus is on today due to Coleman Medal calculations and he is on the ball. Franklin takes another mark 15 metres out and he kicks his third goal.

  • Q1 20:30

BEHIND SAINTSStanley marks in the pocket and his kick looks good off the boot, but it hits the post.

  • Q1 17:25

BEHIND SWANSPyke almost takes the mark in the goal square and plays on but his kick hits the post.

  • Q1 15:35

GOAL SWANSEverything is going Sydney's way at the moment. Gilbert gets lost in the goal square and is chased down by Cunningham. BALL! Cunningham kicks the easy goal.

  • Q1 13:45

The Swans are looking for a big win today with a reward of top spot calling if they are good enough to add the percentage.

  • Q1 11:30

St Kilda need to restrict the Swans' movement and numbers around the ball otherwise this could well end up being a glorified training session.

  • Q1 09:00

GOAL SWANSBig Bad Buddy Franklin spills another overhead marking attempt but he recovers in time to take the mark before it hits the ground. He gets on with it quickly to kick the goal.

  • Q1 07:25

GOAL SWANSSydney are dominating the ball and the Saints can't get near it. The handball comes out to Jetta who takes two steps and lets rip with a cracking kick from 55 metres out.

  • Q1 05:50

GOAL SWANSFranklin juggles the ball but cannot take the mark. From the ball up McVeigh handballs to Malceski in the pocket and he snaps it through.

  • Q1 04:15

GOAL SWANSRichards kicks through traffic and hits Franklin smack bang on the chest. Franklin opens up the angle and kicks the goal.

  • Q1 02:40

GOAL SAINTSRiewoldt calls for it and runs back to the 50. They kick to him and he marks it just inside 50. His kick for goal doesn't let them down.

  • Q1 01:15

BEHIND SWANSJack with a hurried shot for goal from 40 metres out, but he misses to the left.

  • Q1 00:01

We are off and underway at the SCG.

  • Q1 00:00

Welcome to the SCG for the Sydney Swans v St Kilda. No late changes to either team with Dean Towers and Cameron Shenton the substitutes.

Buddy good times at the SCG as Franklin goes on a tear

AFL 2014 Rd 21 - Sydney v St Kilda

Lance Franklin celebrates another goal with Craig Bird during the Swans' big win

LANCE Franklin's nine-goal haul helped offset an early injury to Brownlow Medal fancy Josh Kennedy in the Sydney Swans' 71-point victory over St Kilda at the SCG on Saturday.

WATCH: Buddy's big day out in game 200

Kennedy, who was playing his AFL-leading 127th consecutive game, was substituted out at quarter-time with a left hamstring injury.

His diagnosis could have major ramifications for the Swans, who have reclaimed top spot on the ladder – for the next 24 hours at least – courtesy of a routine 19.13 (127) to 8.8 (56) win.

Five talking points: Sydney Swans v St Kilda

Swans coach John Longmire said Kennedy had complained of hamstring tightness in the first quarter and was unsure about the star midfielder's prospects until he gets scans in the coming days.

"He just had some hamstring tightness," Longmire said.

"He didn't feel it go, but it felt tight at the back end of the first quarter.

"He went out at the start of the second and tried to get it going and was still a bit tight in his hamstring, so we subbed him off.

"If Josh Kennedy has a tight hamstring, he's coming off."

Hawthorn can move back into first place with a win over Fremantle on Sunday.

Craig Bird injured his posterior cruciate ligament in the first quarter and was able to continue, although Longmire was also unsure of his chances of playing the Western Bulldogs next week.

They add to Ben McGlynn (calf) and Rhyce Shaw (ankle), who dropped out of the team this week, as injuries start to surface for the flag favourites.

Thankfully, Franklin's exploits lifted the spirits of the 31,361-strong home crowd as he signed off his 200th AFL match in some style, taking control of this year's Coleman Medal race in the process.

He finished with 9.4, equalling the second-best goal haul of his career, achieved on two previous occasions, to take his tally for the season to 61.

Only the 13 he kicked against North Melbourne two years ago bettered Saturday's haul, and he could afford to chuckle as an attempt at his 10th goal in the final minute sailed out on the full.

Luke Parker, Jarrad McVeigh, Jake Lloyd and Shane Biggs – in his first game of the year – all impressed for the Swans, while Kurt Tippett backed Franklin up with three goals of his own.

It was a predictably tough afternoon for the Saints, however, who came into the match in last place on the ladder.

Nick Riewoldt kicked three goals to move to 47 for the season, while Farren Ray and Jack Steven picked up plenty of possessions and Adam Schneider had some good moments against his former side.

But the visitors were never in danger of adding to their four wins for the year.

Riewoldt kicked the game's opening goal in the third minute, but the Saints barely looked like the scoring the rest of the term as the Swans slammed through the next six goals.

Franklin kicked three of them, tormenting helpless opponent Sam Gilbert, to waste little time drawing level with former teammate Jarryd Roughead in the Coleman Medal race.

A 32-point lead at the first change was quickly stretched further when Franklin and Lloyd kicked the first two goals of the second term.

The crowd took some delight when Schneider galloped towards goal and slammed the ball into the post from about three metres out as St Kilda struggled mightily to add to the scoreboard.

James Gwilt finally broke a streak of eight straight Swans goals with a set shot for the Saints' second of the match as the visitors trailed by 40 points at half-time.

Most of the interest from that point was in Franklin's final haul, as he fell just short of bringing up double figures for the second time in his career.

Afterwards, Saints coach Alan Richardson said the Swans were at the top of their game, while his side had an "incredibly disappointing" first term.

"We were out of our depth," Richardson said. "There's a gap between the two teams.

"We played some reasonably competitive footy after quarter time, (but) we still didn't have the polish or the finish of the Swans and we weren't able to capitalise."
