BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown successfully underwent facial surgery in a Brisbane hospital on Monday night.

Brown sustained a number of small facial fractures in a horrific collision in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to Geelong at the Gabba.

Although the surgery was a success for the Lions captain, finer details - including the length of his recovery - were not readily available.

In a statement issued by the Lions, they said further details pertaining to the injury would be issued once they were made available to the club.

Brown was knocked out when he fearlessly ran head-first with the flight of the ball into oncoming teammate Mitch Clark and Geelong defender Harry Taylor.

It is the second time this season Brown has undergone surgery on his face after he sustained a number of fractures in the opening round of the season via accidental contact with Luke McPharlin's knee.
