THE CAREER of Brisbane Lions utility Albert Proud is in limbo after the club granted his request for a leave of absence on Thursday.

Proud will be absent from the club for an indefinite period, effective immediately, in order to deal with unspecified issues of a personal nature according to a statement released by the Lions.

The statement went on to say that the club regards the issue as private and will make no further comment on the matter.

The 21-year-old has 24 AFL games to his credit since joining the Lions as the 22nd player selected overall at the 2006 NAB AFL Draft. However, he has played just two games this season in rounds four and five.
