Richard Douglas was a standout performer for Glenelg on the weekend in his return from an ankle injury.

Playing for the Tigers for the first time in nearly two years, Douglas was a strong contributor in their win over Sturt. He had 18 kicks, seven handballs and six marks, and his skills and work rate was at a high standard the whole game.

Jarryd Lyons was also solid for Glenelg in the midfield and at half forward, collecting 17 disposals with his work in close at the stoppages a highlight. James Sellar also performed well in defence with 13 disposals and seven marks, controlling his opponents well.

For the Double Blues, Brodie Martin had a good second half after a slow start. His run and carry was better after half time and he finished with 23 disposals.

Richard Tambling was also good for Sturt across half back. His run from defence was good as was his attack on the contest. He finished with 20 disposals and three marks.

Brad Moran played as a tall defender in West Adelaide’s loss to Norwood on Friday night and had nine possessions and three marks.

Ian Callinan returned to Central District after overcoming his hamstring injury and played in the midfield in the Bulldogs’ win over the Eagles.

Despite being a little rusty, Callinan had 16 possessions and two marks and made a contribution when the game was on the line in the second half.

For the Eagles, Luke Thompson had a strong game in defence, playing on a number of tall and small opponents; he finished with 13 disposals and 11 marks.

In the SANFL reserves, James Craig had 25 hitouts and eight possessions for North Adelaide, while Lachlan Roach collected 17 disposals for the Roosters.

Sam Shaw, returning from injury, played a variety of positions for Glenelg’s reserves and finished with 13 possessions and five marks.

Myke Cook played as a guest for West Adelaide’s reserves but hurt his ankle in the first quarter and did not come back onto the ground, while Will Young had a quiet game for Norwood.

South Adelaide had the bye.
