WEST Coast ruckman Scott Lycett has a chance to stake a claim for round one after Jonathan Giles was left out the Eagles' side for Thursday's NAB Challenge match against Gold Coast at HBF Arena in Joondalup.

The Eagles have left out four players including Giles, second-year key defender Tom Barrass, and new draftees Luke Partington and Tom Cole.

The Eagles have opted to play 25 against the Suns as they did in their first NAB Challenge clash against Adelaide a fortnight ago, which they lost by 100 points.

Gold Coast has left out injury-plagued defender Seb Tape and new recruits Josh Schoenfeld and Mackenzie Willis.

Former Eagle Ryan Davis has been named to face his old side. Davis played 14 games with the Eagles in 2008 and 2009 before he was delisted. Gold Coast selected him with pick No.38 in the 2016 NAB AFL rookie draft following six seasons with Swan Districts in the WAFL.
