GOLD Coast will consider dynamic small forward Jarrod Garlett for his second game for the year after a best on ground performance in the NEAFL on Saturday.

Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft confirmed to AFL.com.au that Garlett was among a group of players including midfielder Jesse Lonergan who were being considered to replace veteran Matt Rosa, who will miss at least a fortnight with a hamstring strain.

Garlett kicked four goals against Southport at Metricon Stadium as he begins to build some consistent form following the bye weekend.

"He's certainly elevated himself with his [form in the] last couple of weeks," Ashcroft said.

The talented 20-year-old was drafted at pick No.15 in 2014, playing 10 games despite an ankle reconstruction interrupting his first season.

Garlett was the club's second selection behind this week's NAB Rising Star nominee Peter Wright and the Suns are hopeful the out-of-contract forward can continue his good form for the rest of the season.

Lonergan has recovered from a bout of glandular fever in the past month to put himself back into contention.

He was an automatic selection in the first 12 games before illness struck and has won praise for the role he played in an injury-depleted midfield.

Jack Leslie was also a good performer in the NEAFL while last year's No.34 draft pick Josh Schoenfeld played one of his best games in the NEAFL since joining the Suns.

Despite a disappointing ladder position, the Suns have been consistent performers in recent weeks with a win against the Brisbane Lions essential for the club to build on the momentum from last week's strong win over St Kilda.

Jaeger O'Meara played in the NEAFL on Saturday, Wright won a rising star nomination, senior players recruited to the club including Jarrod Harbrow, Michael Rischitelli and Nick Malceski all received coaches' votes for their performances and skipper Gary Ablett continued to lead from the front.

However the club has lost one of its pioneer players, Danny Stanley, for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury while Rosa is expected to return from his hamstring injury in two or three weeks.
