BRAD Green has capped off a magnificent year by winning the Keith 'Bluey' Truscott trophy as Melbourne's best and fairest.

It is Green's first club best and fairest in his 11-year career with the Demons. His previous highest placing was third in 2008.

Green kicked 55 goals this season as a wingman/forward, with his highest tally a five-goal bag against North Melbourne in round 22. He played his 200th AFL game in round two against Collingwood.

He won the award ahead of two players who also had their highest-ever placings in the club best and fairest - James Frawley who came second and ruckman Mark Jamar who finished third.

Green took out three awards on the night. He also accepted the heart and soul award and the Ron Barassi Jr award for leadership, which would not have gone unnoticed as the Demons look for a new captain after the departure of James McDonald.

His leadership shone through in his acceptance speech when he urged his teammates to already focus ahead on 2011.

"Enjoy the break, you deserve it but come back here willing to train hard because we've got a big season ahead," Green said.

"I'm sick to death of getting our teeth kicked in from opposition supporters. I want our club onwards and upwards."

Green paid tribute to his parents and wife Anna. As an only child, he also praised his wider adopted family that he has been a part of since he was drafted from Tasmania in 1999.

"I don't have any brothers and sisters, I'm an only child. Flash (Aaron Davey) says you're brothers and you certainly are brothers to me," Green told his teammates.

Tom Scully won the Harold Ball award for best first-year player while Jordie McKenzie won the Norm Smith coach's award.

Colin Sylvia won the Ian Ridley club ambassador award while departing Dee Brad Miller was awarded the Troy Broadbridge award for the Melbourne player who polled the highest in the Casey Scorpions' best and fairest.
