A QUIRK of the VFL fixture has turned a one-game suspension for Collingwood's Alex Fasolo into an effective two-game ban at AFL level.

Fasolo received a one-match ban from the VFL Tribunal on Tuesday night after pleading guilty to rough conduct during the Magpies' VFL clash against Williamstown on Sunday.

An AFL Victoria spokesman told AFL.com.au on Tuesday night that Fasolo would have to serve his suspension in round six of the VFL season, which will not be played until next weekend because of the VFL's representative match against the WAFL this Saturday.

This means Fasolo will not be available for Collingwood until its round nine clash with the Sydney Swans.

Fasolo pleaded guilty on Tuesday night after being charged with rough conduct following a video review of a second-quarter incident against the Seagulls.

But Collingwood submitted at the VFL Tribunal that Fasolo should be given a reprimand due to his clean record over 60 games at AFL and state league level, but the plea for leniency was rejected.

Fasolo, 20, was dropped after Collingwood's round five loss to Essendon, but responded strongly last Sunday, kicking two goals and winning plenty of the ball.
