CARLTON defender Nick Duigan is running out of time to resurrect his AFL career, with a two-match suspension at the VFL tribunal delivering a further blow to his chances of returning to the senior team this season.
The Blues defender accepted his striking ban on Tuesday night after being reported by a field umpire during the Northern Blues' clash with the Coburg Tigers on Sunday.
Duigan played just the first game of the 2013 season before finding himself out of favour and demoted to the VFL. He has not returned to Carlton's senior side.
His demotion came despite the fact some observers believing he was a chance for the Carlton captaincy in the pre-season. He is still part of Carlton's leadership group.
Meanwhile, Port Melbourne's Toby Pinwill received a two-game suspension for striking arising from a video review of the game between the Borough and the Box Hill Hawks.
Pinwill was one of the players, along with teammate John Baird, Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson was forced to apologise to after being involved in a verbal altercation at quarter time.
