Cross, Lower, Veszpremi among delisted Dogs

Nick Lower has been delisted by the Western Bulldogs
THE AFL careers of Nick Lower, Lukas Markovic and Patrick Veszpremi could be over after the trio, as well as veteran Daniel Cross, were cut by the Western Bulldogs on Tuesday.

The Dogs have confirmed the quartet will not be offered positions on the playing list for the 2014 season.

List manager Jason McCartney commended the departing players for their commitment to the club.

"These decisions are always difficult but are made with the club’s future as the primary focus," McCartney said.

"We thank the players sincerely for the valuable contributions they’ve made to our football club and wish them the very best for the future."

Cross played his last game for the Dogs against Melbourne on Sunday, but said last week he may look to continue his career at another club.

Cross, a hardworking inside midfielder, played 210 games for the Bulldogs.

Lower, who also had stints with Fremantle and Port Adelaide, played 55 AFL games in total, with 13 coming this season.

Markovic, a tall defender, played 29 games including four this year.

Veszpremi, who was traded to the Dogs from the Sydney Swans, played 23 matches but only one this season.
