HEATH Shaw's manager Ben Niall says his client is "passionate" about Collingwood and wants to stay at the club.

There has been increasing talk this week that Shaw's lack of on-field discipline could see him traded by the Pies at the end of this season, but Niall said he didn't think that would be the case.

"Look he's contracted for two years," Niall told Channel Nine's Footy Show.

"He's a Collingwood person, his family are Collingwood, he loves the football club, he's got relationships that are broad and deep in that place and he loves playing for his footy club.

"I think Heath's personality and profile means he can be a bit of a lightning rod for dissent and for dissatisfaction.

"Maybe sometimes he brings a bit of that on himself, but he's passionate about the team's success."

Niall said Shaw was working on his on-field behaviour.

"Look, there are times in games and during the year where he struggles to control his emotions and can lack a bit of discipline," Niall said.

"And no one is more aware of that than Heath and Heath is certainly working on those aspects of his on-field demeanour and those things and it's a work in progress."
