ESSENDON has rubber-stamped Justin Crow as the man to lead its fitness program, appointing him as the high performance manager for the next two seasons.

Crow took over the besieged department in February, after the club stood down former high performance box Dean Robinson as it was investigated over its supplement use in 2012.

Crow oversaw the fitness program at the club during its tumultuous season, with interim chief executive Ray Gunston saying he had handled the role well.

"Justin assumed the role in an interim capacity in February this year and has impressed everyone with his management of the program," Gunston said.

"He has gained the respect of the playing group and we are confident he is the right person to take on this important role within the football department."

Crow came to the Bombers Collingwood in 2011, having been the rehabilitation coach at the Magpies from 2008-11.

Robinson resigned from his position in July.
