JASON Porplyzia will extend his AFL career into a 10th season after re-signing with Adelaide for 2014.

Porplyzia became an unrestricted free agent this year but AFL.com.au understands the classy small forward never seriously considered a change of club and this week recommitted to the Crows for one more season.

Porplyzia, 29 in November, played 16 games and kicked 13.14 in 2013, but was dropped after round 18 and did not play again.

However, the Crows still see a role for Porplyzia in attack next year, while they also hope to add Carlton free agent Eddie Betts to their small forward ranks via October's free agency period.

Porplyzia has been plagued by injury in his time at the Crows, but at his best is a dangerous player. Deceptively strong overhead for someone standing 177cm, he is also a smooth mover and generally accurate in front of goal.

Porplyzia has played 126 games and kicked 180 goals since making his debut for the Crows in 2006.

His best season came in 2009, when he led the Crows' goalkicking with 57 majors and finished second in in the club best and fairest.

Originally drafted by Adelaide in the 2003 national draft, Porplyzia was delisted after just one season before being given another chance in the 2006 pre-season draft.

The Crows now have just one 2013 free agent yet to re-sign, veteran midfielder Scott Thompson.
