In an Australian first, fashion and footy will be merged, as the AFL showcases a series of interactive Women’s Style Lounges at the MCG during Round 13 of the 2014 Toyota AFL Premiership Season (June 13-15) to celebrate the launch of the latest AFL women’s apparel range.

A fun-filled marquee will be set up outside the iconic MCG before each Round 13 game, fully catered to the female AFL fan - fashionable clothes, great music, pampering, sweet treats and an opportunity to mingle with fellow female fans – all free of charge.

The new-generation of AFL women’s gear is stylish, practical and fun and is available in all 18 club designs, ranging from retro jackets, three quarter sleeve tops to fitted polo’s, tees and classic hoodies. The range allows women to show their support for their Club, in a way that is stylish and adaptable to a range of lifestyles.

The AFL Style Lounges will be an opportunity to encounter a new pre-match experience never offered before.  Tailored for female fans, the Style Lounge sets the scene with its lavish setting and relaxed atmosphere – a perfect prelude to the match ahead.

The six AFL teams playing at the MCG over the weekend in Round 13 will be participating in the Style Lounges.  They include Carlton, Hawthorn, Richmond, Fremantle, Essendon and Melbourne.  All six teams will showcase their women’s range, as well as having special guests visiting the lounge.

Special guests- Sarah Dunn, Brooke Hogan and Renae Ayris will be there for style advice and the opportunity to talk to visitors.

Dorothy Hisgrove, AFL General Manager, People, Customer and Community, said the Style Lounges are an innovative and welcome addition to Round 13 matches at the MCG this year.

“Women represent almost half of the AFL’s total attendance and continue to play a significant role across all levels of the game,” Ms Hisgrove said.

“We’re pleased to be launching these new style lounges for Round 13 matches at the MCG this year as a way of showcasing the new AFL women’s apparel range.

“These lounges are a great new initiative that will provide an enjoyable environment that is completely focused on our female supporters.”
