MELBOURNE will nominate talented father-son prospect Billy Stretch, but is yet to determine which pick it will part with for the youngster.

The Demons are set to file the paperwork this week, committing the club to take the promising wingman under the father-son rule at the October 6th meeting, unless they choose not to match a rival club’s bid.

Some clubs believe Stretch – the son of Melbourne best and fairest winner Steven – could cost the Demons a second or third round pick if there is sufficient interest from other clubs.

However, if there are no rival bids then the Demons must take Stretch with their last live pick in the November NAB AFL Draft.

Stretch was named as a midfielder in this year's Under-18 All Australian team, and finished the season strongly with his SANFL club, Glenelg.

Father-son bidding day is likely to produce up to 10 possible picks, with Collingwood in the mix to land Darcy Moore and the Brisbane Lions in line to grab Josh Clayton.

Sydney Swans academy member Isaac Heeney will also feature in proceedings.

The Magpies will likely have to part with a first-round selection to land Moore, the son of dual Brownlow medallist Peter.
