MATT White will be picked for Port Adelaide's semi-final against Fremantle on Saturday night and coach Ken Hinkley expects him to be play despite a small crack in his jaw.

White had scans on Monday that revealed a small fracture in his jaw, a consequence of a hit he copped while laying a strong tackle in Port's 57-point elimination final mauling of Richmond.

The crack was not significant enough to require surgery but it did put White in doubt for the semi-final at Patersons Stadium.

But Hinkley told Fox Footy on Wednesday night that he expected White to be available.

"We think he'll play," Hinkley said.

"I'm not someone who tricks around with what we might and might not do. I expect Matty White, at this stage, to play. So he'll be named in the side tomorrow night."

The Power speedster did the warm-up and some running at Port Adelaide's main training session at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night.

Hinkley said it would be a courageous effort from White if he played but the coach said he wouldn't expect anything less.

"They know the price they have to pay," Hinkley said.

"Most often these players, and any team at any club, they just give it."
