Geelong's general manager of football Neil Balme told SEN on Tuesday night that Hunt would not be offered a place on the Cats' list in 2015.
McConville told NAB AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday that he had not heard Balme's comments but he was confident there would be plenty of interest in the 23-year-old.
"He'll be a delisted free agent if that's the case, and I'm sure there won't be any shortage of potential suitors as well," McConville said.
"If that's the way it all heads then obviously we'll deal with that next week and thereafter. Hopefully something may come up in the next 24 hours but at this point in time it's more likely he'll be a delisted free agent."
Hunt has played 63 matches for the Cats over five seasons but he only managed seven games in 2014, with a groin problem keeping him sidelined for nine weeks.
