COLLINGWOOD has secured midfielder Levi Greenwood from North Melbourne in exchange for pick 25.
The Magpies received the pick from Brisbane as part of the Dayne Beams deal and quickly moved it on to secure the services of the former Kangaroo.
Greenwood's departure comes after his best season for the club where he finished third in the club best and fairest and was brilliant in the club's elimination final win over Essendon in the 2014 finals.
He was out of contract at the end of the season and attracted huge offers from both Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.
North Melbourne, who made the preliminary final in 2014, could not match the offer of those two clubs but football manager Geoff Walsh described him as a valued member of the team and said the club was "sad to see him go after seven seasons".
Greenwood, 25, made his debut in 2009 after being selection No.32 in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft.
He played 74 games, including three finals with North Melbourne and would have qualified as a free agent at the end of his next contract.
The Magpies were rapt to secure Greenwood as they needed a big-bodied midfielder to replace Beams.
Collingwood recruiting manager Derek Hine said Greenwood would be a handy addition to its recast midfield.
"Levi Greenwood is a hard-nosed mid-fielder who moved into serious centre square company this year," Hine told the club's website.
