JOEL Selwood will captain Australia in Saturday's International Rules Test match against Ireland at Patersons Stadium.
 
The Geelong skipper was named captain on Monday night at the team guernsey presentation function at the Sydney Opera House.

 
The 24-man squad arrived in Sydney on Monday for a two-day training camp.
 
Selwood will lead his side for the first time on Tuesday when Australia plays a practice match against the NSW Gaelic Football team at Tom Wills Oval.

 
The squad will then fly to Perth after the match with training sessions scheduled for Thursday and Friday, before facing off against the Irish on Saturday.
 
Ireland played a practice match on Sunday, defeating a Victorian representative side by 73 points.
