THE BRISBANE Lions have locked away two more of their emerging players, with Claye Beams and Jono Freeman each signing two-year contract extensions.

The new deals for Beams, 23, and Freeman, 20, will see them remain at the club until the end of 2017, although the Lions are waiting on a commitment from priority signing James Aish.

Lions football manager Dean Warren said the club saw Beams and Freeman as a key part of the future under coach Justin Leppitsch.

"They are both very good young players and have really bright futures with our football club," Warren told the club's website.

"The fact they are both Queenslanders makes it that bit sweeter for the local game, and shows the kind of talent the game in Queensland can produce."

Beams, the younger brother of star recruit Dayne, has played 29 games and kicked 21 goals for the Lions after being selected with pick No.76 in the 2009 NAB AFL Rookie Draft as a Queensland priority selection.

Freeman was also a Queensland priority selection in the 2013 draft, the Lions acquiring him at No. 59 after matching Adelaide's bid for the young key forward.

Freeman, who has kicked six goals in four AFL games, has been forced to sit out the start of 2015 after back surgery, but the club expects him back on the field in the middle of the season.

The Lions are still sweating on Aish's signature with Adelaide among other clubs pursuing the young midfielder's services.
