MICK Malthouse has been sacked as coach of Carlton.

Malthouse was sacked by the Blues on Tuesday after a bitter falling out with the club's board and chief executive Steven Trigg.

Blues president Mark LoGiudice said on Monday a decision on Malthouse's future would be made during the bye round in a fortnight.

Malthouse responded in an incendiary radio interview on Tuesday, saying that a two-week time-frame was pointless, effectively daring the club to dump him.

The Blues have called a press conference for 4.10pm AEST Tuesday which will be attended by LoGiudice and Trigg, but not Malthouse.

Malthouse was seeing leaving Ikon Park through a back door at around 3pm AEST on Tuesday.

He did not speak to reporters. He departed in the passenger seat of a maroon-coloured car.
