NORTH Melbourne coach Brad Scott was interviewed by Tasmanian police on Tuesday about the alleged assault of a security guard in Hobart.

A North spokesman confirmed with AFL.com.au that Scott had been formally interviewed by police about an incident during the club's round six win over Richmond at Blundstone Arena.

It is understood a security guard, who was working at the venue during the match, alleged he was kicked by Scott as the North coach attempted to make his way to the interchange bench just before half-time.

Once news of the investigation broke, Scott said he would welcome the opportunity to give his version of events.

Scott silent on assault claim

"Things will come out in the wash-up, all I can say is I absolutely welcome an investigation and look forward to putting the facts into the story," Scott said.

"There will be a police investigation now, so while I'd love to answer all your questions and give you a full version of events and actually tell you what happened, I can't."

Scott has not been charged with any offence.
