MELBOURNE FC defender Melissa Hickey has been reprimanded following an incident in the third quarter of Sunday’s AFL women's exhibition match at Etihad Stadium.

Following a review of the match by the AFL Umpiring Department,Hickeywas cited on video evidence for striking Western Bulldogs FC player Jessica Wuestchner.

The incident, involving a clenched-fist glancing strike to the stomach, was assessed as intentional but low impact.

Taking into account the player's clean record from the VWFL, Hickey was offered a reprimand with no further penalty or need for a VWFL tribunal hearing.

The report will however, be added to Hickey's record for consideration in future tribunal incidents should they occur.

The review of the match found no other incidents that required further examination or sanction.
