WEST Coast will play off for a spot in the Grand Final at 5:45pm WST on Saturday September 26 after the AFL finalised the preliminary final schedule.

The Eagles, who will host North Melbourne after the Roos' win over the Sydney Swans on Saturday night, had been expected to host a day final at Domain Stadium.

However, the AFL has arranged a flight for the Kangaroos on Saturday night, giving them maximum recovery time, making an evening final possible.

"The AFL has scheduled the game as a 5.45pm local time (7.45pm AEST) match to ensure against any issues with potential afternoon heat in Perth during late September and to maximise the potential audience who can watch on the Seven Network and Fox Sports," a League spokesman said.

In a bumper weekend for WA football, Fremantle will host Hawthorn in the first preliminary final at Domain Stadium at 6.20pm WST on Friday September 25.
